Strategic Objectives

Directors responsible for IT will be trying to implement an IT Strategy that delivers first class productivity and project management at optimum costs. This strategy must be concrete enough to result in a changed organisation and be reflected positively in the company accounts.

One of the options that can contribute to this strategy is IT Outsourcing. [For Progmanuk services related to Outsourcing please press the link on the left.]

However outsourcing is just one of the possible solutions to the fundamental question of "What cost-model and organisational structure should be applied to your IT departments to best match the business plans of your company?" Unless you have a comprehensive answer to this question attempts at outsourcing may well fail to deliver overall benefits.

We therefore offer an IT Transformation Service that addresses this fundamental question.

The Service

The service we provide can be thought of as a precursor to Outsourcing. The output of the service is a:

  • A new organisational structure and cost-model for IT Services

  • A new project management capability utilising best practice

  • A set of sourcing options that may include Outsourcing.

The method we adopt assumes Outsourcing is a realistic option, and tackles the problem from this perspective. However we will also offer alternatives to outsourcing such as remodelling existing internal units to be more cost-effective.

The Method

Achieving an IT Strategy that includes Outsourcing options can be thought of as consisting of five stages:

  • Produce the High Level Objectives

  • Produce the IT and Outsourcing Strategy

  • Produce, Evaluate and Select the Options

  • Produce the Contract/s and Organisational Structure

  • Manage the new Internal and Outsourcing Arrangements.

The Progmanuk Outsourcing Method addresses the first three of these stages. It also effectively ensures that the fourth and fifth stages are well structured, and that the new skills required have been identified and sourced.

[Progmanuk also offers separate services covering the fourth and fifth stages. For more details please press the Outsourcing link on the left.]

The method itself breaks down the stages into phases that constitute a change programme. The management of the stages belongs to the area of programme management which can be the standard of any client including PRINCE2.

The phases of the Progmanuk Outsourcing Method provided below are the basis upon which our consultants will carry out their work.
